With the day of the forum quickly approaching, we wanted to provide the list of Break-out sessions and a brief description of them for your perusal:

·       Understanding Graffiti: During this session the basics of graffiti history and the differences between Aerosol and Street Gang Culture will be reviewed

·       Female Gangs: This presentation will give a full overview of why females join gangs and how their roles in gangs and related gang activities have evolved, and have been overlooked by society as well as law enforcement

·       Taking It To The Streets: Focus will be placed on the Youth Initiative Project, a community-based prevention/intervention model

·       Violence Prevention/Emotional Intelligence: This will educate participants about the major types and causes of violence, particularly homicides and the popular game, Grand Theft Auto

·       Team-Based Gang Intervention: In this session, participants will learn about team-based strategies in working with gang-involved youth, including the roles played by different partners and the challenges and successes of the team approach

·       Gangs in Our Neighborhoods (English Version): The State of New Jersey has seen a significant increase in gangs in recent years and although most of this problem grew within impoverished inner cities, gang members are now emerging from the core and moving into surrounding suburban towns recruiting new members of all races. The “SIGNS” are all around you, do “YOU” know what they mean?

·       Up in Da Burbs: This session examines the growth and identification of gang members in the suburbs, and dispels the myth that “there are no gangs in the suburbs”
